Orthopedic & Sports Acupuncture

To explain what Orthopedic and Sports Acupuncture is, lets first start with some definitions. The term “Orthopedic” refers to the branch of medicine that deals with the bones, muscles, and joints. It's about diagnosing and treating injuries and conditions that affect your body's movement, like muscle tension, arthritis, and back problems. Sports Acupuncture on the other hand tends to deal with enhancing performance through improving the strength, mobility and recovery of the body to succeed in a sport or activity, in these cases you might not experience pain, but are coming in to optimize your performance.

Through the Exstore© System developed by Dr. Anthony Lombardi, we combine the best of Traditional Acupuncture with modern techniques based on our understanding of anatomy and neuroscience. During a session, we conduct a thorough assessment to uncover underlying structural imbalances. From posture and gait analysis to evaluating mobility and strength, every detail matters in pinpointing root causes of imbalance. This personalized approach allows me to tailor treatments to address weakness, tension, inflammation and imbalance effectively and efficiently.

Motor points are specific points within muscles that directly impact function and movement.

Electroacupuncture involves applying a gentle electric current to acupuncture needles to enhance treatment effectiveness.

Treatments include advanced techniques like the activation of motor points which are specific points within muscles that directly impact function and movement, and electroacupuncture which involves applying a gentle electric current to acupuncture needles to enhance treatment effectiveness and targeted soft tissue therapies to further reduce tissue adhesion, mobility and function for lasting results.

A lot of people ask about the difference between acupuncture and dry needling, so let’s clarify. Dry needling is essentially a localized form of acupuncture used to target dysfunctional muscles, aiming for tissue relaxation and increased blood flow in the treated area. Dry needling may be incorporated into treatment plans, often combined with the use of traditional points away from the painful area or other techniques like electroacupuncture to enhance the overall efficacy of the treatment.

Sessions last about 30minutes each and are repeated 2x/week for the first 1-3 weeks depending on your concerns and spaced out further as your symptoms improve. For preventative maintenance of chronic conditions or to support an active, hard working lifestyle you may return for regular supportive care as needed.

By combining traditional wisdom with evidence based techniques, my approach offers a comprehensive solution for restoring mobility and enhancing overall well-being. If you're ready to move towards better health, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
